Renewable Energy Financing Solutions

Being Independent has enabled us to develop a network of lenders who are seriously focused on Renewable Energy projects as a business. Here it is not just good policy, or the “right thing to do”, here clean energy is good business.

We do not have to convert these lenders; we do not have to explain Net Metering or PPAs to them. Frankly they get it, they like it and they want to do business in this sector.

We represent domestic and global capital resources that have a commitment to, and experience in, renewable energy. This network of lenders is capable of participating in projects via both debt and equity positions. The network allows us the flexibility to be creative in developing partnerships. The finance structure is not one size fits all, Finance terms are “deal dependent”, and has to work for all players.

For example; There are lenders looking for projects as small as 300kw, others that have a minimum size requirement of 10mw and more. Other groups don’t really lend at all, but are looking to out right buy the entire project. Different lenders like different projects, and it is a moving target.

The financing landscape is fluid with emerging tax incentives, RECs, electric rates etc. By focusing in this sector we are able to successfully steer projects through the finance process.

We assist project managers at the early stages of the project development process. We participate in the development of the project finance application and consult with the project developer to make certain the plan will meet the standards that lenders require.

Lenders are looking for projects with:

  • Experienced Project Management and EPC contractors,
  • PPA buyers with excellent credit,
  • Product that will perform as specified.
  • Documented site control
  • Interconnectivity agreements
